With Kids Rule is fast approaching & Spring and Summer are knocking at our doors… it can only mean one thing – smoothie season! Yes, this is the time of year when we fire up those blenders and enjoy countless refreshing smoothies. This is one of our favorites that is loved by all – yes, even you adults.

GREEN MACHINE
2 servings

2 cups spinach (or your favorite dark leafy green)
⅔ cup almond, coconut or rice milk
½ cup ice water
1 ripe banana, peeled
2 tablespoons almond butter or sunbutter
2 teaspoons cinnamon
2 dates, pitted
½ avocado, pitted

  1. Blend greens, non-dairy milk and water until well blended.  Add the banana, nut/seed butter, cinnamon and  dates and blend until smooth.
  2. Add the avocado and blend until just combined, you don’t want to overblend avocado as it will become too thick!

    You would think blending up spinach would make something that tastes nasty, but it always amazes me how you pretty much can’t taste the spinach at all. You can add spinach into pretty much any kind of smoothie and all it does is turn it green while also adding fiber and vitamins, it’s great! 🙂

      Completely true! Spinach just becomes part of the color with the BONUS that you are getting so many nutrients!!

    An easy summer time smoothie that consists of watermelon, strawberries, and cucumber. Make certain your strawberries are organic as the worst pesticides are used in conventionally raised strawberries:
    1 cup fresh strawberries with the leafy parts removed, or frozen strawberries
    1 cup watermelon chunks with no seeds
    1/2 cup chopped cucumber
    Then add some ice for chilling if needed and blend till liquefied. yammy yammy)
