Which program is for me?

Here we are, in the middle of January, and for many people – they’re in the thick of New Year’s resolutions. Some people are eating cleaner, many are doing new workout programs, some are creating a new annual budget while others are vowing for less “staring at my phone time.” Everyone’s commitments (if any at all), are different. But there’s something about this time of year, just two weeks out of the insanity of the holidays, where you can practically smell dedication and motivation in the air. It’s inspiring. 

We’re in the second week of our brand spankin’ new Prescribe 20 program. The discussion boards are jamming, members are obsessed with the new recipe packet – special shout to the PN Chewy Bars (recipe below, booy-ah) and folk’s pants are fitting a bit nicer. We love it and we love the energy. 

This February we’re running another round of Prescribe 20 simultaneously with Prescribe Balance. A lot of people from the current Prescribe 20 will be jumping on board for Prescribe Balance. It’s a natural segue and a sure fire way to have your New Year’s goals transform from intentions into habits. But for people who have never done one of our programs, it can feel like a tough decision to make: Do I do Prescribe 20 or Prescribe Balance first?

Let’s break it down. To put it simply, you can absolutely do either. What we focus on in Prescribe 20 is a very gentle “reverse detox” – consider it a mellow elimination diet. It includes 3 optional, tiered eating plans that are designed to help you uncover what type of dietary style works best for you. We have inspiring meal plans, a kick butt workout routine, and two series of helpful material: Everything You Want to Know series + an On the Go. Fresh material, every day. Pretty cool times. 

Prescribe Balance we stick with one eating plan, our tried and true “PN Protocol.” Why? We’re focusing on digging deep into content in these 20 days. This program is jam packed with insightful and important information everyone should know about their bodies. There are reasons behind why some people struggle with weight loss resistance, digestive issues, hormone imbalance, PMS, etc.. The information in this program helps connect the dots between food, lifestyle and those chronic issues, and that’s what this program is all about.

We like to call Prescribe 20 our foundation program, but Prescribe Balance can speak more directly to certain people dealing with specific issues. End of the day – you can do either! We have our most common Q & A available in our FAQ guide.

Now about those PN Chewy Bars…

Pistachio

PN “CHEWY” BARS    

Makes 10 bars

Make ahead tip: these bars keep well wrapped airtight at room temperature, but we recommend storing individual bars in a freezer-safe bag in the fridge or freezer for freshest flavor!

  • 1¾ cups gluten-free rolled oats
  • 1 cup sliced almonds
  • ⅓ cup shelled pistachios
  • ⅔ cup cocoa nibs
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup almond butter
  • ½ cup honey
  • 1½ teaspoons vanilla extract
  1. Line an 8 inch square pan with two strips parchment paper, overlapping each other in each direction.
  2. Briefly pulse the oats in the food processor or blender to break them up. You don’t want to turn them into a flour, just break them down slightly.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk the oats, almonds, pistachios, cocoa nibs and cinnamon. In a small bowl, mix the almond butter, honey and vanilla. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and mix together until everything is well coated.
  4. Scoop the mixture into the 8 inch pan. Pack the mixture down as firmly and evenly as possible using the back of a spatula – you may want to cover the mixture in parchment if you’re finding this too sticky!
  5. Cover with foil and refrigerate for one hour or more. Remove the mixture by lifting the parchment paper, then slice into bars with a sharp knife.
